Engine Tuning

MRT's approach to engine tuning is a little different, we like to serve repeat customers so we don't gouge clients and shout about over-inflated dyno numbers, in fact building a motor is more often about how the motorcycle goes through the power and how much power it makes at partial throttle openings than it is about "Dyno" power. MRT believes the best motors are deceptively fast and, ideal power is "almost" too much to open the throttle quickly, tailoring the motors characteristic to the rider's ability is very important, it's easy to build a powerful motor that increases your lap times, building a motor than faster but easier to ride is a whole different level. If you are around professional riders testing you will often hear them say I know the dyno says that but it feels like this on the track - Merge knows why and we use this to our and our customers advantage.

We can build your engine how you want it and to your budget, we have packges

Turn Around Time

Generally you can expect 4-5 business days on a straight forward motor rebuild. Custom work requires longer. Lead times tend to grow at the start of the season and before national events so plan ahead whenever possible.

How to Box it Up

Drain the coolant and ALL THE OIL (both sides on some four strokes), and make sure the motor is thoroughly clean and dry. If you have partially disassembled the motor we recommend that you build it back up and include any damaged parts. This way we can make sure that all the parts are there for the rebuild. Loose parts won’t damage gasket surfaces. Including all parts allows us to provide you with a complete diagnosis. When you are ready to package your motor it should look something like this:

We highly recommend that you wrap the motor in a large plastic bag and seal it with tape. This reduces the possibility of condensation creating corrosion and any remaining oil or coolant doesn’t leak out and stop your shipment en-route. Pack the motor in custom motor box when possible. Tip – an economical alternative is a square, wheeled cooler available in Wal-Mart for around $50.

What to Ship

Ship only your motor and parts that remained on the motor when you pulled it out like the intake boot and exhaust flange. Items like the throttle body/carb and ignition should not be included unless you want these items serviced or modified.Following Up after You Ship
